David Mason was born and raised in california with both of his parents as artists, so it was a great environment to foster his creativity. He have been drawing and playing with paints for most of his life, but he has always felt drawn to photography. Ansel Adams was his hero growing up and David was fortunate to be able to work with him the summer before he started college.
In college, he studied applied art and photography, making it more of a commercial art education. It was not his passion, so after a few years he drifted away from it. Through out all of this he was always drawing and creating art and with time realized that he really wanted to pursue fine art and really hone his drawing skills.
David uses his natural love of photography to enhance his drawing by using camera like a sketchbook; translating what he sees through the photograph and the lens into a drawn image is the most enjoyable way he creates art.
